The Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass is a more involved procedure initially because we not only reduce the size of the stomach to about the size of your thumb or one ounce, but we also bypass a portion of the small bowel so that you have absorb less calories. As a result of that you get better weight loss. About 90% of our patients are successful long term with the Roux-en-Y and they average about 80% of their excess weight lost.
