For patients that are interested in investigational studies in the past we were involved with a Laparoscopic Adjustable Band and also gastric patient for weight loss. Currently we have an ongoing study involving Sleeve Gastrectomy as a possibility for volunteers that are interested in that procedure. Potential benefits of the sleeve gastrectomy is that we create a smaller stomach. However, we do not use an artificial band around it, so we avoid the complications that can occur with that. The disadvantage is at this point we just do not know how well it is going to work and what are the long term problems we might see, so that is why it is still investigational.
