I had my surgery July 12, 2006. I am a little over a year out and I have lost 120 pounds. I originally started out at 260 and I am a lot more healthy now than I have ever been in my life. I originally had a heart condition. I was taking about 2000 mg of heart medications a day. I am down to a 10 mg maintenance drug, which is where I wanted to go. My heart doctor was the one that actually kind of pushed me into this direction and probably the best thing that I ever did in my life. I have a lot of friends and family that are supportive and I did all my research with Dr. Champion and he is the best in this whole state. As long as you listen to him and do exactly what he is telling you to do, you know everything would be wonderful and actually come out as well as you anticipated or even better. The best advice I can give someone is to pay attention to Dr. Champion and listen to what he says, do what he tells you to do but also listen to your body and the biggest part of this is comprehending what you are doing to it and you really have to get your mindset right. You are doing a paradigm shift for your life and your life is, you are not living to eat any more, and you are living to eat you know and so you need to make sure that you are bottling all that up into one thing. The other thing is your support groups are huge and we as a group rely on each other for information even as I am over a year out, I still rely on those people that are four and five and six years out for information on what I am going through on a daily basis, they help me a lot and that support group is astronomical in the way that I look at my gastric bypass and the way they look at my future.
